SAVE HORSERACING

This industry is in the fight of its life.
Our constitutional rights and the future of the sport are both on the line.

A reckless new regulator is imposing massive new costs on everyday horsemen, driving many out of the business and leaving the rest to pick up an exorbitant, unnecessary tab they shouldn’t have to pay. Our best shot—really our only shot—at restoring sanity is a federal lawsuit that demands Congress respect the Constitution. This isn't just important for horsemen—it's important for every American who believes their vote should count, their rights deserve respect, and their government should be transparent, honest, and responsive to their concerns.

Stand with us as we stand for horsemen and the Constitution—in the Courts and in the news media.

The lawyers representing the horsemen's associations are doing so free of charge—they're relying on the generosity of individual Americans who value their defense of freedom. The other side is spending millions of dollars on an army of lawyers from some of Washington, DC's largest law firms. To fight back, we need the charitable support of everyday people inside and outside of this industry.

Fuel our fight - donate today to save horseracing - and our constitutional freedoms. Your charitable gift to the Center for American Rights will be invested directly back into providing free legal representation for horsemen as we pursue this case all the way to the United States Supreme Court. This is a pivotal moment—our next hearing is just days away—join us.

The Constitution creates three branches of government. There is no fourth branch called ‘private industry regulatory organizations.’ Do we want multibillion-dollar nationwide industries to be regulated by private organizations of economically self-interested actors?

FROM THE DESK OF
DANIEL R. SUHR
ATTORNEY-AT-LAW

Horsemen are decent, hardworking men and women who love their animals, their industry, and their country. These past two years it's been a privilege to represent them in this struggle for the soul of the sport. We've already accomplished so much—the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit declared the new regulatory regime unconstitutional last winter, forcing Congress to amend the law. The U.S. District Court delayed the new medication rules for their rushed imposition. But we knew the other side would not go down easy, and they've continued to insist on a basically blank check to run and regulate this industry. Well, we're not surrendering. We are pushing ahead, and now we're back in the Fifth Circuit for round two.

But I'll be honest—we need your help. This case has been expensive, and we never expected the other side would pull something like a midnight amendment in Congress that would force us to restart the entire lawsuit more-or-less from scratch. Will you partner with us by giving to the Center for American Rights? Your gift of any amount will be received with appreciation and spent wisely for maximum impact. And it's most timely before our next hearing on October 4. Most of all, it will truly make a difference to sustain this effort all the way to the Supreme Court. Let's save horseracing—and our country.

Gratefully,

Daniel R. Suhr, Esq.
